1860-1866 (London: Carl Hentschel Ltd., n.d. [1910]). First edition, 33 x 26.5cm [folio], in publisher's portfolio (light brown paper-covered boards w/3 flaps, all trimmed w/thick grey paper), brown title & device to fr. cover, w/titlepage, introduction by Borough Johnson, photograph of the artist, & 26 wood engravings on white paper laid on handmade paper sheets, all loosely enclosed as issued. This is the scarce 1st limited edition ("No. 95" handwritten on titlepage), not to be mistaken for the "inferior ordinary edition" (Goldman p.357). Binding Very Good (sl. wear to corner-tips of fr. board, moderate surface peeling to covers, & tiedown lacking); contents Very Good (lt. foxing to titlepage, & a few corners sl. creased).
