William De Morgan - Perseus and Andromeda

William De Morgan was both a painter in the Pre-Raphaelite manner and a designer of stained glass, pottery, tiles and ceramics, renowned for his work for Morris and Co..

Andromeda was sentenced by Poseidon to be sacrificed to a sea monster. Perseus used the head of Medusa to turn the monster to stone, and cut Andromeda free from the rock to which she had been chained.
