William Lindsay Windus - Too Late

1857-8
Tate Gallery
Strongly influenced by the Pre-Raphaelite style, it highlights another strong Victorian issues, the young woman dying on consumption. It was exhibited at the RA but was not well reviewed, Ruskin especially disliking it a lot. But Windus was admired by Ford Madox Brown who always promoted him.
