Art influenced by the art and themes of the Pre Raphaelites with biographies, auctions and information on these artists.
Love them all, but I am particularly fond of both Hughs and Watts. Great posts.
Thank you. I think this is rather wonderful.
This is lovely ... thanks so much.----an off topic question ... :) a friend is wondering who the model was for Albert Joseph Moore's ... 'The Mother of Sisera Looked out a Window' ... would you recall ... or have a resource that might give the information? (sorry to bother) Thanks for your time. (I've done some searching, but can't find her.)All the best ...http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Moore_Albert_Joseph_The_Mother_of_Sisera_Looked_out_a_Window.jpg
Thanks. His private and work life is not much known:http://www.andersongalleries.com/Scripts/prodview.asp?idproduct=82but the face reminds me of a coloured model the PRB used, but I just can't find her anywhere. The hair looks the same especially.
Found her, and a ref to Moore:http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/this-britain/airbrushed-out-of-history-how-victorian-britain-portrayed-its-black-community-508974.html
Thank you very much ... Happy Spring! :)
I remember when you shared her before .... thank you ... but, I didn't put her together with the Moore work ... much appreciated.http://preraphaelitepaintings.blogspot.com/2010/03/simeon-solomon-portrait-of-fanny-eaton.html
Thanks Cathy, I was tired last night and it took me ages to find her. What a fascinating woman, its a pity her life is so little known. Make a great play.
