Dante Gabriel Rossetti - Portrait of Lizzie Siddal #2

Never seen this before. It is believed to date to 1850, the year Rossetti first met Lizzie, when she was 21. He did 58 extant drawings of her between 1850 and 1861, the year she died.
Watercolour on paper
Fitzwilliam Museum
It seems to have been re-worked in 1865

I think Lizzie was a fascinating character, ill used by Rossetti. I gave up watching the BBC show - made me shout at the tv too much!

She was so ill used, poor soul. I dont often watch tv and hadn't even known it was on, so have only watched the first episode on-line so far.
