Summer Snow (1863)

Wood engraving printed in black on paper.

A watercolour version of this subject is in the collection of the William Morris Gallery, Walthamstow. This image was produced for a poem in the periodical ‘Good Words’. The artist is named in the index of this issue as ‘Christopher Jones’, which may be a memorial to Burne-Jones’s son Christopher, who died in infancy the year this was produced.

Found unaccessioned in 1978, possibly from the Bequest of J R Holliday, 1927.
