Joseph Parkin Mayall with his pictures by Millais

c. 1884
Probably photographed [copyright form dated 1883 at the National Archives, Kew] at Auburn Lodge, Victoria Road, Kensington where Barlow died in 1889. Barlow and his wife had moved to Kensington in the 1850s. On the wall to the left of the photograph is Barlow's diploma as a Royal Academician. The two portraits in the foreground are 'Cardinal Manning' and 'Sir Henry Irving', both by Millais. On the wall above the bookcase is Barlow's engraving of 'William Ewart Gladstone' by Millais and his engraving of Kneller's 'Sir Isaac Newton'.
