Millais, study for The Woodman's Daughter circa 1849-50


Just found this. About two months old so probably sold now ?

At Jeremy Maas Gallery, this is a presumably a preliminary sketch of the girl before the idea for the painting had been worked out. The painting itself is currently part of the show at Tate Britain. The pose of the girl in this drawing has some similarities with Millais early drawing for Mariana (see p.104 The Life and Letters of John Everett Millais) .
