I have seen many of Simeon Solomon's works and there is a richness of detail and colour in some that astounds the modern viewer. Where did he get these ideas from? Why did it take so long before his works started making big money at auction?

I think his rather sad history made his work virtually unselleable until society recognised his genius and became at least a little more enlightened!
